The Promenade des Anglais

A short stroll from the Club Inn Residence

Just 100 m from the residence, discover the beautiful surroundings and shady palm trees along the Promenade des Anglais. World renowned, this magnificent wide south-facing avenue stretches along the coast and offers magnificent views across the Baie des Anges that stretches from Nice to the Cap d’Antibes.

Until 1820, the coast in this area was difficult to access. English tourists, spending their winters in Nice in large numbers since the 18th century, thus took it upon themselves to create a coastal path which gave its name to the current road.

The famous Promenade des Anglais was born and became the centre of daily life in the city. With parasols in hand, people strolled between the hedges of oleanders. The first casino also came into being, as well as such sumptuous buildings as Le Négresco (built in a Neo-Baroque style), the Musée Masséna, and the Palais de la Méditerranée, designed in 1928 by Frank Jay Gould and decorated by the Niçois sculptor Antoine Sartorio.

Today, the Promenade des Anglais is still the perfect place for a stroll. At the end of the day, take a seat in one of the famous blue chairs and enjoy the unrivalled spectacle of the sun setting.
